WeACT Youth Theatre, Creative Outlet Theatre and Gamrath Doyle Vens Insurance present a production of The Laramie Project on September 12-14, 2014 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
July 4th starting at 4pm marks WeACT Youth Theatre’s second annual Sno-Cone and Entertainment booth at McMillian Park and Mount Pleasant’s Fourth of July activities! The booth will be located in the food pavilion (where the churches have food at Old Threshers)
We are still looking for kids to sign up for this event. We are planning on selling Sno-cones between 4pm-Fireworks (and during and afterwards too). I would prefer to have 5th grade and above helping us, just because of everything that is going on. However if a parent is with them, I would allow younger kids to do some work. I have three kids in charge of the different areas, and some of the kids will be at our main station and others will be running our mobile sales. *
The snocones are going to be $2.50 a piece, or 2 for $5, and we are also talking about bringing back the $5 cups this year as well. SO please let your friends and family know!
We are also going to have some fun with the kids who are participating! The kids have been invited to download the WeACT T-shirt logo here, and either trace it or make an iron on. Then the kids can design their own FOURTH OF JULY THEMED WEACT SHIRT! When the children arrive to work, we will take their picture, and then Facebook Fans will be able to vote all Fourth of July Weekend for their favorite design! The winner will receive $25!
So if you want to sign up and you haven’t yet! Do so now by using the form below!
*JUST TO BE CLEAR, I HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY CHILD TO WORK THIS EVENT. IF YOU HAVE CAUSED TROUBLE IN A PAST EVENT OR HAVE NOT ACTUALLY WORKED IN A PAST EVENT AND FOOLED AROUND, I WILL EITHER LIMIT YOUR TIME (as a test) OR SIMPLY REFUSE YOUR CHILD’S HELP. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT EVENT FOR WEACT AND WE DEAL WITH TOO MANY CUSTOMERS TO ALLOW FOR TOO MUCH FOOLING AROUND.
WeACT Youth Theatre has become a home and a way of being for several children in the Southeast Iowa area. Many see WeACT as a positive influence in helping children to become more articulate and outgoing in the community. However, when you have the ability to be a source of influence to such a large group of children, maybe it’s important to push that influence outside of just the theatre world. Therefore, Bradley Laborman is happy to announce The WeACT Healthy initiative for 2014.
This program will reward children from WeACT who make healthy choices with points throughout the rest of 2014. As these points accumulate, children will receive different WeACT related items, the items increase in coolness as the points grow and grow. However, there are also ways to LOSE points! Unhealthy practices will cause children to lose points throughout the process. It is not only the children who can lose points, but parents can also lose points for their children as well. We will always be adding new ways throughout the year that a child may GAIN points, but we might also find new reasons why a child might LOSE points. We will also be adding more incentives from local businesses throughout the process for children who are excelling at gaining points and acting healthy.
This is a completely voluntary activity. WeACT understands that some parents and children will not be interested in participating in this contest of sorts. So this contest is open to child from K-12th grade who fills out a form and returns it by 5pm on June 30, 2014. You can pick up your form at WeACT at 123 North Jefferson street in Mount Pleasant or simply by Clicking Here and printing it off.
Below is a breakdown of the points system as well as a guide to what your points will earn you!

On August 5, we will be taking a group to Six Flags in St. Louis. We will be going as a group from WeACT. DEADLINE TO SIGN UP IS JULY 13TH due to getting the best price! Also you must be going into at least 4th grade to be a part of the fun! (Unless your parents are coming along)
You do not have to have a membership, just have taken classes or been in a show with us. We will allow people to invite their friends as long as the kids and parents doing so remember, THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY NON-WEACT GUEST THEY BRING.
The price for the trip is a flat $40 + $2.50 processing fee (I usually eat this fee, but I can’t for this event), this will cover the cost of the ticket, a WeACT Tshirt (So we can all look the same and be able to find members of our group at any time, plus hey people keep asking for WeACT shirts.) and a picnic lunch that we will help take care of. Dinner, snacks, sodas and whatever else will be on you.

CAMP WUNNA ACT is a multi-week intensive program where kids get the chance to be a large part of the theatre production experience. Kids will spend the day planning and rehearsing for a final production that takes place weeks after camp begins. This is a great program that helps kids with memory skills, team work, problem solving and so many other things. There are two camps sessions happening this year, a 4th-8th grade camp in June and a shorter K-3rd grade camp in July. These camps are both designed based on the age ranges of the kids involved.
Camp also includes healthy snacks and recreational time as well to make sure the kids are having a summer of staying fit both mentally and physically. To learn more about the individual camps and to register early and save money, check out the links below.
